P7: the car park at T1

Sydney Airport describes P7 as the biggest car park at T1, and it sits right next to the terminal. The airport puts the walk at 2 to 5 minutes. Both short-term and long-term airport parking are offered in the same car park, so a quick pickup and a month away are handled in one place.

If being close to check-in is the priority for your Sydney airport parking, start here before looking further out. For sydney airport parking at the international terminal, closeness is the whole point of P7.

Walk to check-in 2–5 minutes No shuttle between car and terminal
P7 Terminal-adjacent · short and long stay One car park for brief stops and long international trips. Pre-book for December, school holidays and the June–July peak.

The default for parking Sydney Airport international departures

The short walk, and when to use short-stay

P7 removes the bus ride. That helps most at 5am before a 7am departure — and again after a 14-hour return when you want the car, not a transfer.

Terminal-adjacent parking costs more than a lot further out, and international trips are long enough that the difference adds up. Use the ledger to pick your lane.

The walk

From P7 to the T1 building. No shuttle, no waiting for a bus. On return, it is the shortest route back to your car after a long flight.

2–5 min
Short-stay

For meeting an arriving passenger, dropping someone off, or waiting out a delayed arrival. Kerbside pick-up and drop-off zones at arrivals and departures are for quick stops only — for a two-hour delay, short-stay inside P7 is the practical option.

Brief stops
Long trips

International trips are the case long-term parking was built for. The airport operates international long-term car parks as part of its own stock, under the same booking and terms structure as P7. Once a trip runs beyond a couple of weeks, compare the long-term product against the P7 long-term rate.

Valet lane

P7 SYD Valet hands the car over at the terminal. The most expensive way to park at T1 — suited to early departures, tight connections after a long drive, or returns landing after midnight. Check operating hours against your flight times.

Accessible bays and pre-booking for T1

Accessible parking is available in the airport car parks with a valid permit displayed. Bay locations vary between products, so confirm the specific car park when you pre-book rather than assuming every level of P7 has them.

If step-free access matters, P7 is the shortest route by design. Flag the requirement when you book or send us a question and we will point you at the right product for your dates.

Peak timing

December, school holidays and June–July northern hemisphere travel fill P7 first.

How booking works

Online reservations run through the airport booking engine under airport parking terms.

Why it helps

Pre-booking holds a space and typically locks a rate; drive-up on peak dates takes what is left.

Pick the T1 lane by trip length

Three flags on one halyard. One airport parking choice fits a two-hour wait, another fits a three-week trip — the lane follows the calendar, not the terminal.

Short

Wait out a delay in P7

Best when you are meeting, dropping off, or sitting through a late arrival.

Long

Away two weeks or more

Price the long-term product against P7 long-term — the gap grows with trip length.

Valet

Remove the walk entirely

Hand over at the terminal for early starts and after-midnight returns.

What to check before you reserve

  • Confirm your terminal is T1. Domestic flights do not leave from there, and the car parks are on different sides of the airport.

  • Have entry and exit times and your rego ready. International returns shift with delays, so leave margin on the exit time.

  • Decide between terminal-adjacent P7 and the long-term product. If you are away more than two weeks, price both.

  • If you need an accessible bay or step-free access, raise it at booking and bring a valid permit for the bay.

  • Read the airport parking terms before you pay. That document governs entry, exit and changes to your reservation.

T1 parking questions

Short answers for international trips — terminal, distance and which product to compare.

Driving into the undercover T1 car park entry
Where do I park for an international flight?
Use P7 at T1. It is the terminal-adjacent car park for international departures, with a 2 to 5 minute walk to check-in and both short-stay and long-term parking in the one location.
Is there a shuttle from P7 to the terminal?
No shuttle is needed. The walk is the reason travellers choose P7 — direct on foot, which helps before an early departure and after a long return flight.
What if I am away for three weeks?
Compare the airport long-term product against the P7 long-term rate. International long-term car parks sit inside the same booking and terms structure, and the price gap widens once a trip passes a couple of weeks.
Do I need to pre-book P7?
For December, school holidays and June–July, yes. Reservations run through the airport booking engine and are covered by airport parking terms. Pre-booking holds a space and typically locks a rate.
